alone.
sometimes
i have to drive 45 minutes
to an open field
to be alone with the mountains and the air.
because sometimes I begin to think that my life is defined by
my job
or
how many people I hung out with this week
or
how many college credits I have
or
how many likes my Facebook or Twitter or Instagram photo has gotten
or
the places I've traveled
or
how many views my blog has
or
what I'm wearing today
Sometimes I need to be alone
in an open field
away from the world
to remember that all of those things are simply things.
They aren't me.
Alone in an open field I can't hide.
Alone in an open field without my cell phone is when I truly feel free from the pushing and pressure of society and culture and expectations and people.
Alone in an open field is where I remember who I truly am.

creative ways to remember your mission
1. a picture frame with your missionary name tag
2. photo album
I'm not patient enough to scrapbook, so I just bought a simple album and filled it with my favorite pictures. It was super easy, super cheap and it didn't take long to do.
tips:
- Use a picture frame with a mat border. Your name tag will fit perfectly.
- Use a photo from your mission to personalize it.
- This is a pin name tag. I removed the the pin with pliers.

Mini Love Lock Bridge in Russia
There is a small bridge
in Lipetsk, Russia
with a sweet tradition...
A newlywed couple writes their initials on a lock..
and places it on the bridge to hold fast
for all the world to see
for its paint to fade
rust to creep itself around
for the weather to test its strength
but to always remain strong and holding fast to that bridge, through all of it.

5 Reasons I Would Retake My "Bridge Year" to Ecuador in a Heartbeat
I have been home from my bridge year in Ecuador for almost two years. I am still absolutely convinced that being a Global Citizen Year fellow was the most impactful experience in my life to date.
Five reasons I would retake my bridge year over and over again:
I have made lifetime friends,
and when all of these people are famous/successful, future career connections ( ;) ).
