This week in Los Angeles...

Things that happened this week:

~ We saw a movie being made! We tried to be sneaky and see what it was, but the set was well-guarded with security. Bummer. I'm still super happy, because it was secretly a mission goal of mine to see a movie being made. Check.

~ Hermana Mocellin and I are parallel parking CHAMPS. See attached photo.

~ Speaking of parking... I am getting very good at it , but only because I have no choice but to be good at it. Parking is the WORST here.

~ We moved apartments!
Everything went smoothly.
Until.
We got to the new building and found that the elevator had been shut off for the night.
We live on the third floor.
We all got quite the workout that day.

~ Next Monday is transfers. I will know I am staying in Hollywood or not. I would like to say that since I just got here I will probably stay, but I have had a very un-common experience with transfers and I give up on guessing :) Dios sabe.

Hermana Mocellin and I have been completely overwhelmed by how much regular missionary work + extra missionary work (like putting up flyers for our English class we teach) + other work (like moving and meetings) we have had to do this 1/2 transfer. It's been mega stressful, BUT we have seen some amazing things happen as we keep trying..

One day, nothing was going right. We took 15 minutes to find a parking spot, and the parking spot we find was BARELY big enough. We tried to park.. and it just wasn't working. A random person driving by literally stopped driving to laugh at us. Ruuuude. But then got out of his truck and said "Here, let me help you" and he proceeded to tell me exactly how to get into the really tight parking space. We talked to him, and it turns out he had almost gotten baptized in El Salvador, but then moved here! We found a former investigator with a baptismal date because he pulled over to laugh and us and help us park... :)
AND THEN. Five minutes later, on the way to the appointment we were late to, we ran into an investigator who we haven't been able to contact since August. Los Angeles is a really big place, so it is amazing that we found him just randomly walking one day.
AND THEN. After the appointment, we spoke with a woman. What we said and asked her touched her heart, and she just started crying in front of us.

Sometimes things don't go as planned, but there is a reason for everything. On my mission I have learned that there is absolutely no such thing as coincidences.

  1. "Lo que pasa combiene" I never liked the parking rule, my companions were great at parking, they didn't need my help, but I did it even under the rain. You are incredible!
